Liza Minnelli flooded with support as she issues huge career announcement

Oscar winning entertainment legend Liza Minnelli has announced a new project. The star, who is the daughter of iconic singer and actress Judy Garland and director Vincent Minnelli, has revealed she is working on a “children’s project”. “It’s time to share news with you,” she wrote on alongside a black and white image of her as a child practising ballet. “My children’s project based on the little girl fantasies that every one has… becomes a reality soon.

“Say hello to ‘Lil Liza’. Many people say my god-mother wrote Eloise based on my experiences at the Plaza Hotel. Lil Liza and her best friend Michael are gonna travel the world singin, dancin & spreadin joy all around. You’ll learn more in the months ahead. I love you all. Congratulations and special thanks to my tribe members, including Jon Carrasco @joncarrasco, Stephen Roseberry @sgr90069 of Carrberry Companies & Victoria Varela @doubleveenyc at V2 Entertainment Group,” she concluded.

Her friends and fans rushed to support the star, as one said: “Looking forward to it! You’re so amazing!” and another agreed: “Ok Liza, you’ve always been a diva. I love YOU.”

A third chimed in: “Angel! Congratulations on the project!” and a fourth wrote: “Sooooo glad you and Michael will be doing this!”

The star, who turns 79 today (March 12), hasn’t performed much in recent years but has been keeping creatively busy away from the stage.

In January it was announced , which is a collection of duets with her friend and American revivalist crooner Michael Feinstein.

It will be her first new recorded release in 15 years and she has also announced she will publish her memoir next year in 2026.

She is also the subject of a new documentary entitled Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story, which is set to be released in the UK later this year.

The film was previewed in LA and New York in January and it tells how she overcame the 1969 death of her mother, Wizard of Oz legend Judy Garland, to forge her own spectacular career on stage and in movies.

The documentary director Bruce David Klein said: “I think she is still at her best and happiest when she is working.”

And Liza, who won her Oscar for her performance as Sally Bowles in Cabaret in 1972, reveals on screen: “I love performing and I still take dance lessons.

“I still feel that when I sing to people in a theatre I’m not just giving a performance, I’m sharing my love with each individual person.”
