face painted a picture of devastation as he was seen watching Liverpool’s defeat from the Kop. The Reds legend stood among the fans at Anfield but was left disappointed after Arne Slot’s side .
Liverpool took a fortunate 1-0 aggregate lead into the second leg but were unable to kill off the tie. Despite creating several big chances, Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal in normal time to level the tie at 1-1. PSG subsequently won 4-1 on penalties with Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones missing their spot-kicks in a cruel exit for the hosts.
Carragher was filmed watching on from the stands and the moment he witnessed Liverpool’s defeat being sealed was caught on camera. The former defender looked despondent as he stared off into the distance.
He later shared his thoughts live on CBS Sports. As the other pundits struggled to put Liverpool’s surprise exit into words, Carragher added: “Well, I’m pretty much the same at the moment really. Bit deflated but listen, the best team won. PSG, we’ve seen how they performed in the first leg.
“I called it a robbery to make it 1-0 and I think in this game, in the sort of 20 minutes, half an hour, I felt that Liverpool were going to go and win this game comfortably.
“And they just couldn’t get that goal early on, had two or three chances, then PSG get their goal. For the rest of the game, it felt like nip and tuck really, but then in extra-time it just felt like PSG took over. Where I was in the Kop, we were just hanging on for penalties and desperate for penalties, really. It’s a lottery, anything can happen.”

Liverpool must regroup quickly ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final showdown with Newcastle. The defeat against PSG was only their fifth in all competitions this season. Sunday’s game represents the opportunity for Arne Slot to win his first trophy as Reds head coach.
However, there is a chance that he will have to select a team without a recognised right-back. Trent Alexander-Arnold is a doubt after limping off last night with a suspected ankle injury.
Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez are also absent due to fitness issues. Jarell Quansah replaced Alexander-Arnold against PSG and would be the likely candidate to start at right-back should the England international fail to win his fitness battle.
