ITV The Chase’s Bradley Walsh shares reason he turned down James Bond role

Presenter shared that he was once asked to take part in a James Bond film as he presented a new epsiode of The Chase on . The 64-year-old star, who has also acted in the past with roles in and Doctor Who, shared that he had to turn a role in the 007 film Quantum of Solace down.

The topic of conversation came up when Brad welcomed four new players to ITV’s The Chase as they tested their wits against Mark Labbett, also known as “The Beast”. A bond themed question came up which prompted the host to share his anecdote. The question was: “Blofield is killed by in what Ian Fleming novel?”

The optional answers were Diamonds Are Forever, Thunderball and You Only Live Twice, with the latter being the correct choice. Brad then shared his favourite Bond actor as he said: “, mate. all day long. Brilliant”

Mark replied: “Is it true you were considered to be his body double?” Brad explained as he said: “Yes. I was actually asked to be in Quantum of Solace.”

Gesturing to his chin, he added: “But they wanted me to not shave for three or four weeks, to let it grow… Because I was going to play his armpit!”

Bradley is a self-confessed Bond megafan, and even has a snazzy car similar to one owned by the 007 spy. He owns a custom made six litre Aston Martin Vantare stripped back DB12, which has been put back together with a new body. It has been compared to the No Time To Die DB12.

The host’s co-star, Anne Hegerty, also once confessed that she would like to snap up a role on the iconic Bond films.

Speaking to Three Counties Radio, Hegerty revealed: “I like an action movie – not that I’m very good at action, but I can be the person that sits behind the desk and tells everybody to go out.

“I’d love to be in the next James Bond film, I’d love to be in the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe], anything like that.”
