Chaos and confusion reigned on ‘s when a question about the Walk of Fame left both chaser Jenny Ryan and fans utterly flabbergasted, sparking an uproar among the quiz show’s loyal followers. He asked: “As of 2023, what was the fee for having a star on the Walk of Fame?” The choices given were quite varied: £750, £7,500, or a staggering £75,000. Quick on the draw, contestant Susan from Stoke-on-Trent didn’t bat an eye before locking in her answer for the highest amount, boldly stating: “I’m going high. I think those people can afford it.” Walsh was quick to doubt her, saying: “I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s B.”

The studio was filled with tension as Susan’s correct answer was revealed, proving both Walsh and Ryan wrong—a moment that left them as shocked as the audience.

The revelation that one must pay £75,000 for a star on ’s most famous sidewalk had viewers hitting the roof, venting their surprise and dismay on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Comments ranged from disbelief to sarcasm with one fan posting: “Buying your own star on the walk of fame ridiculous #thechase.”

Another shocked viewer noted: “Well I never knew you paid for a walk of fame star!! You learn something new everyday!”

Yet another chimed in with: “It’s the equivalent of the blue tick on Twitter. Fame is a tradeable commodity now.”

On a previous episode, Scottish contestant Steve was left grappling with what the viewers called a “horrifying” set of questions, stirring up claims of unfairness.

One question put to Steve was: “Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?” The options provided were sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots—Steve went with sweetcorn, but the correct answer was potatoes.

Additional brainteasers included: “What is another term for the King James Bible translation?” and “In 1974, who proposed that black holes emit subatomic particles until they exhaust their energy and finally explode?”

As well as the idiom mix-up “‘We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it’ is an example of a blended idiom informally known as what?”

Fans slammed the “ridiculous” questions feeling that Steve, arguably the best player, was “robbed” of a fair shot at the final chase.
