presenter delivered a “record-breaking” weather update live from Cheltenham Festival just hours before the races began. During Wednesday’s visit (March 12) to the studios, and Ed Balls woke up the nation with some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines. This included the dramatic new tariffs Britain faces on the steel industry and the proposed changes to the justice system that could mean defendants will have to listen to victim statements in court.
Later on in the show, the dynamic duo threw the show over to metorologist Laura Tobin live from Cheltenham Festival where she delivered the latest weather report. But her segment got off to an unsual start as she burst on screen shouting “It’s snowing!” as she giggled and watched snow fall from the balcony.

Later on in the show, the brunette beauty returned for a more formal update and changed her attire from a white and pink floral sleeveless dress into a simple black dress which she layered with a plum wool trench coat complete with a faux fur trim and a gold fascinator.
She began: “So you can see the horses are out this morning and it is snowing here in Cheltenham and it has just started to settle. Everyone has been coming up to me saying, ‘It’s snowing!’ They’re sort of excited and also a little bit worried.
“If you just take a little look across here [the field], the guys are out, they’ve took the covers off that was protecting the ground from the frost overnight. Now they’re filling in some of the holes that were made yesterday.
“It’s not too unusual to have snow though here in March, maybe just a light covering. But actually here at the Cheltenham Festival for the Cheltenham Races, the last time we had one centimetre of snow – that’s the most snow they’ve ever had – was back in 1974. That was 51 years ago, so it could be record breaking snow here for the festival.”
It comes after Ed Balls was left utterly red-faed when she shared an embarrassing confession moments before interviewing a favourite. The presenter welcomed soap siren Claire Sweeney onto the show – who plays Cassandra Plummer on the ITV soap – onto the programme where they discussed her new storyline on the famous cobbles.
But things quickly took an awkward turn after the former MP admitted what the famous theme tune meant to him when he was a child. After watching the trailer for the upcoming storyline, Ed confessed: “I do like that music, in our family it means it’s time to walk the dog”.
Susanna immediately pulled a confused face as she turned back to her co-host and asked: “I beg your pardon”. He simply replied: “In our family, we had a adog and when that mucsic came on, the dog would jump up and get its lead” as she looked on in horror. And it was clear that the former politician insulted the soap star, as she sarcastically mumbled: “So, you’re an avid watcher then, Ed.”
It was at this point that Susanna saved the blissfully unaware presenter, as she asked: “Oh, was it at the end?” to which he replied: “Of course it was at the end!” The mum-of-three took a big sigh of relied as she chuckled: “Oh thank God, I thought you meant you would get up and walk the dog instead of watching.
“I don’t think I’m going to be the only person who was thinking that”, she warned as Claire agreed: “That’s what I thought.” Ed insisted: “No, I was watching when Tracey was born and now she’s a big, big adult star. I do watch , I really do Claire.”
