BBC Strictly star joins Alex Jones as new co-host on The One Show in line-up change

welcomed a new face to famous green sofa on Wednesday (March 12), as the popular talk-show saw a major update in its line-up. Since stepping into Christine Bleakley’s shoes as presenter of the show back in the summer of 2010, Alex has shared the stage with numerous well-known individuals.

Currently, the show boasts a diverse selection of permanent presenters such as Ronan Keating, and Lauren Laverne while others like , Zoe Ball and step in as guest hosts.

Over the years on The One Show, Alex has worked with other notable co-hosts including Chris Evans and briefly, Jason Manford in her first year.

Her longest-serving partner was Matt Baker, who bid farewell to the programme in 2020 after a nine-year stint. Last year also witnessed ‘ exit from the show after a three-year collaboration with Alex.

The latest addition to the presenting team is , fresh from securing the runner-up position in the most recent series of . With previous experience delivering reports for The One Show, JB made his debut as co-host alongside an enthusiastic Alex on Wednesday night.

Greeting viewers, Alex said: “Welcome to mid-week One Show and look who’s by my side, we’ve stolen him from JLS. It’s !”

To which the ecstatic 38-year-old Londoner responded: “They’ll be fine without me. It’s a pleasure to be here and what a treat of a show we’ve got lined up for you.”

graced the green room of The One Show and was pleasantly surprised to find a familiar look on the walls. Taking to , he shared his delight with fans:

“Dropping into The One Show, hosting my first show tonight and look what who I’ve seen on the walls. Come on,” he told his social media followers.

Not new to the TV scene, JB shot to popularity as a member of JLS during their memorable X-Factor run in 2008, where they were runners-up to Alexandra Burke.

Following their chart-topping success, including five UK number ones and a pair of Brit awards, JB shifted gears towards television presenting, reports

His farming roots have seen him present the CBeebies series Down on the Farm alongside Storm Huntly, bridging his love for nature and broadcasting. In addition to this, JB’s versatile presenting portfolio includes numerous episodes of ‘s spiritual mainstay Songs of Praise, showcasing vibrant gospel choirs.

The One Show continues weekdays on One from 7pm.
