BBC Escape to the Country host’s two-word response as buyers share ‘extensive’ wish list

Escape to the Country presenter Denise Nurse was taken aback by an “extensive” detail in a first for the show on Wednesday (March 12).

In the latest episode of the series, Denise encountered married duo Mark and Steve, who had left their Cheshire residence in pursuit of the tranquil charm of the Cumbrian countryside.

Armed with a budget of £380,000, the couple aspired to secure a three-bedroom property with parking for at least two cars, an art room, and a sizeable garden for their annual Eurovision shindigs. Proximity to a train station was also on their wish list.

But that’s not all, as Mark and Steve also had a string of deal breakers, including no cramped windows, a roomy interior, a sociable kitchen, and a bright, spacious area to store their Eurovision outfits.

En route to meet the hopeful buyers, Denise couldn’t overlook the “extensive” nature of the pair’s requirements, reports .

“Steve and Mark have a very extensive wish list, and when I say extensive, I mean extensive! This list is bigger than anything I’ve ever seen on Escape to the Country,” she confessed.

“So, I can’t wait to find out how committed they are to this, and if they’re really ready to swap that holiday vibe for their full-time lifestyle.”

Denise rendezvoused with Mark and Steve at one of the Lake District’s top tourist spots, Lake Windermere, where she unveiled a large piece of paper detailing their “never-ending” list of desires.

“Before we get started, I need to get to the bottom of something. This wish list,” Denise kicked off, listing the couple’s extensive set of demands.

“Space for Steve’s car, space for Mark’s car, access to a train station, access to a village or a town but not in the centre of a village or a town, of course! Close to a pub, close to a second pub in case the first pub is closed, come on you two! Have you thought of everything?”

Steve mentioned their love for social life and whimsically expressed their desire to possibly own an alpaca or two, prompting Denise’s candid reaction: “Are you for real?”

“I love big dreams, but this is quite a list,” she remarked, noting their ambitious vision, before embarking on the home-hunting adventure.

Denise showcased several options including a charming farmer’s cottage in Haverigg and a welcoming semi-detached house in Stank, before ultimately wowing them with the mystery property in Gleaston.

After touring these remarkable homes, Steve and Mark were convinced enough to set aside their exhaustive checklist, swayed by the gut feeling they had stumbled upon their dream abode.
