Bargain Hunt star says ‘I’m off’ as show sees ‘biggest loss in history’

Bargain Hunt took an awkward turn after suffering the ‘biggest loss in show history’. In a special edition Breakfast stars and Jon Kay recently took part in the hit show as it celebrated its 25th anniversary.

This one-off episode featured John Watson at the helm, with seasoned expert Tim Weeks from Bargain Hunt offering guidance to Jon and Sally as they scoured for antiques and hidden gems.

Jon’s haul included a £129 vintage Dinky Toy car and a £40 tea caddy set. On the other hand, Sally showcased her thrifty side by opting for a £19 coffee grinder and snagging a large teapot celebrating the Queen’s Golden Jubilee for a mere £5.

At the end of the challenge it was now time to find out who came out on top. John turned to the duo and asked: “How are you both feeling?”

Sally admitted: “Nervous, definitely nervous.” Jon jumped in: “Exhausted. It’s tiring stuff.” Everyone burst out laughing as John explained: “Well I can now reveal the results. Sally you turned a profit of £51, which makes you the Bargain Hunt winner.”

The announcement took Sally by surprise as she shouted: “What! No.” Turning to her co-star she continued: “Oh John I’m sorry.” John then revealed: “The dinky toy and your tea caddy…”

As he was about to finish his sentence, it was clear John wasn’t pleased about losing as he pretended to walk off set and said: “Okay good to see you all thank you I’m off.”

John continued: “A loss I’m afraid to say of £104, which gives me the great honour Sally to award you with your £51 profit, which I know we are going to be giving to charity.”

He then turned to Tim and said: “You did say to yourself that actually this is the biggest loss you have ever seen in Bargain Hunt history.”

Tim explained: “Normally the contestants have to buy three items so I’m glad it was just two because it could’ve been a record the way you were going.”
