Ayo Edebiri says she received some of the “most insane” death threats of her life after Elon Musk posted a fake story saying Disney was considering replacing “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp with her.
Back in February 2024, the tech billionaire reacted to the dubious recasting news with an X post that said, “Disney sucks.”
And on Tuesday, the star of “The Bear” called Musk out while explaining what went down after he elevated the seemingly unfounded movie gossip.
“Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram story. “LMAO so not only is he double s**g h**l-ing fascist, he’s an idiot but anyway.”

Edebiri’s anecdote came right after she praised comedian Bill Burr for taking on Musk during a recent interview on NPR’s “Fresh Air.”
During the chat, he put the White House insider on blast for seeming to flirt with far-right factions with the Nazi-like salutes he’s become fond of during recent public appearances.
Burr also called Musk an “idiot” with “dyed hair plugs and a laminated face” who “makes a bad car and has an obsolete social media platform.”
Both Edebiri and Burr’s criticism comes amid word most Americans are not big fans of the Tesla CEO and leader of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency.
A poll released by CNN/SSRS on Wednesday revealed that about 53% of Americans said they have an “unfavorable opinion” of the world’s wealthiest man, while 35% view him positively and another 9% said they had no opinion.

Though Musk’s name seems stuck in the headlines, interestingly 2% of respondents said they have “never heard” of him at all.
