The UK train station with the most pickpockets has been revealed, with commuters given key advice to stop them in their tracks. According to data from the (BTP), nearly 14,000 incidents were reported across UK train stations in 2024.
A Freedom of Information request submitted by luggage storage network has identified the top 10 stations with the highest number of reported pickpocketing offences. Perhaps unsurprisingly, all top ten spots were cinched by London, as crime rates in the capital continue to escalate.

King’s Cross St Pancras Underground Station tops the list with 506 reported incidents, accounting for approximately one in every 25 pickpocketing cases across BTP-monitored stations. This station’s status as a major transportation hub, connecting various Underground lines and national rail services, makes it a hotspot for such crimes.
Oxford Circus Underground Station follows closely with 467 reported offences. Situated in London’s bustling shopping district, the constant influx of commuters, shoppers, and tourists provides ample opportunities for pickpockets. Finsbury Park Railway Station ranks third with 433 incidents.
As a significant interchange for National Rail, the Underground, and multiple bus routes, its high daily footfall makes it susceptible to theft.
To safeguard personal belongings while navigating these busy stations, Cody Candee, CEO and Founder of Bounce, said: “Train stations are some of the busiest public spaces, making them a prime target for opportunistic thieves. Extra precautions can make all the difference in keeping your personal belongings safe.
“If you’re carrying your bags, always keep them within sight. Wear backpacks on your front in crowded areas, and keep suitcases close, especially near escalators and ticket barriers. Avoid leaving bags on the floor or unattended on a seat when waiting for a train. If you do put your bag down, loop a bag strap around your arm or leg to prevent quick grabs.”
He added: “Scammers and pickpockets often work in teams, using distraction tactics to steal valuables. Be wary of anyone causing a scene, and stay alert in crowded spaces. Whether storing your bags securely or keeping them close, a little extra caution can result in a stress-free journey.”
