The latest episode of the Yellowstone prequel, 1923, on Paramount Plus, featured Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves) in Texas alongside Runs His Horse (Michael Spears) and Pete Plenty Clouds (Jeremy Gauna). In a twist of fate, Teonna’s father stumbled upon cowboys working at the ranch where they had set up camp.
The head cowboy, played by none other than C Thomas Howell, struck a deal with them to track down the ranch’s missing cattle, offering shelter and food in exchange. Fans were quick to spot Howell, whose character Anders may only grace the show briefly, as he is currently listed for just one episode on IMDb.
Known for his roles in classics like The Outsiders, Red Dawn, and Secret Admirer, Howell hails from Van Nuys, Los Angeles, where his father’s career as a stunt coordinator and rodeo performer influenced his early ambitions. Initially aspiring to be a stuntman, Howell found fame as a child stunt performer and rodeo star before making his acting debut on The Brian Keith Show.
He later transitioned to commercials and eventually landed a role in ‘s E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Now 58, Howell reflected on his unexpected journey into acting, telling The Team Roping Journal: “It wasn’t a special transition because I knew that’s what I was going to do my whole life.”

“It wasn’t something I chased. It wasn’t something I went to college for. It wasn’t something I dreamed about. It was a very real thing.
“I got up early in the morning and I went to work with my dad and I was on set. I met actors and I saw directors and I was like, ‘Yea, I’m going to be here, for sure.'”
His father, who lived his life as a cowboy, was a pro bull rider for a decade, which meant Christopher was brought up in Junior Rodeo and even clinched the title of California State All-Around Champion three times consecutively. “I was different,” he reflected.

“People didn’t understand that I was just riding a 1,200-pound horse and roping 400-pound steers.
