‘The White Lotus’ Finally Gives Us Something To Work With In Season 3

I’ve been bored to death by Season 3 of “The White Lotus.” Until Sunday’s episode.

Episode 4, titled “Hide and Seek,” finally started to actually feel like it had a plot.

My absolute favorite moment was when Kate (Leslie Bibb), Laurie (Carrie Coon) and Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) try to find some fun in Phuket and end up in the middle of the Songkran festival. Songkran, celebrated on the Thai New Year, is a long celebration, with one particular event that was captured on “The White Lotus,” where everyone takes to the streets with water guns for an epic water fight. It was just so funny to watch them strut down the street thinking no one would wet them up, and then seeing them have to duck into a convenience store.

Now, as for Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), you in danger, girl! I’m so nervous that something bad is gonna end up happening to her, now that she’s started to investigate Gary/Greg (Jon Gries).

I still do not care about Timothy Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) and his family drama — even after that full-frontal moment. However, his son Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) mispronouncing “sawatdee kha” as “swastikaaaa” had me SCREAMING.

Let’s see where Sunday’s episode goes, now that I’m actually locked in.

The ‘Love Is Blind’ Reunion Was As Underwhelming As The Rest Of The Season

All season long, we discussed how incredibly boring the eighth installment of “Love Is Blind” was, and Sunday’s reunion seemed no different. Aside from a surprise engagement between Season 6’s Amber Desiree, aka AD, and “Love Is Blind UK” star Ollie — who both star on “Perfect Match” Season 3, which hits Netflix this summer — there wasn’t a lot of excitement to dig into after the many breakups (and one wedding) in the lackluster season finale. Not even a look back at the most unforgettable “Love Is Blind” moments (which were all wrong, imo) was enough to spice up this reunion.

While Virginia finally stood on business and told viewers exactly why she felt she and Devin weren’t in alignment, they still didn’t come to a proper resolve. Sara and Ben went back-and-forth about their post-wedding breakup and a Nashville moving situation gone awry, but it got them no closer to being cordial. Monica expressed regrets about not realizing Joey never really loved her, while the latter partially blamed her sister for them never getting out of the “friend zone” — another he said, she said situation. There was, however, a curveball thrown when Madison’s name got thrown into the mix of their split.

Meanwhile, Dave finally realized he messed up by not believing Lauren over the guy she was seeing before the show (no surprise there since everyone tried to tell him so). And Mason and Meg (remember them?) shared they’re now “best friends” after a few attempts at dating after the show. Oh, Taylor and Daniel are still married — the latter has a chest tattoo of his wife’s eyes to prove it.

Could this “Love Is Blind” reunion have been an email memo with just these highlights? Probably. Now that Season 8 is finally over, I can confidently say this was the dullest one thus far. Hopefully, the show will bounce back with Season 9 in Denver.

‘RHOA’ Returns After A Long Hiatus With Some New Faces And Fan Favorites

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” returned for Season 16 on Sunday night, with Porsha Williams returning to the cast, along with Drew Sidora and what will likely be a brief appearance from Kenya Moore. (Apparently, Moore left the show after allegedly targeting a new cast member with revenge porn.)

Cynthia Bailey is on in a “friend of” capacity this season, and former “friend of” Shamea Morton Mwangi finally got her peach.

Other new cast members include Brit Eady, Kelli Ferrell and Angela Oakley. Bravo fan favorite Phaedra Parks is slated to return to the “Real Housewives” franchise later this season.

The premiere episode teased that there might be quite a bit of drama ahead in the season. Williams is going through her divorce; meanwhile, her ex Dennis McKinley seems to be building a working relationship with Sidora and her music. But cast members are suspicious that there’s more going on between McKinley and Sidora, who is also going through a divorce.

Ferrell is already spicing things up by speaking her mind. She asked Williams why she stole that lady’s man, referring to Falynn Guobadia who was once married to Williams’ soon-to-be ex-husband, Simon.

Frankly, I’m looking forward to this season and hoping that it’s full of juicy drama. I’ve missed seeing Williams on my TV screen because she is hilarious and always brings a bit of fun to whatever antics are going on. Plus, we’re finally getting to see the rich and fabulous lifestyle that Williams’ bestie has been living all this time. Later on, we’ll get Parks back, too? I’m ready.

Hulu

‘Deli Boys’ Puts Itself In A League Of Its Own

I can confidently say I’ve never seen a show quite like “Deli Boys” before. The charming dark comedy, which premiered on Hulu on March 6, follows two pampered Pakistani American brothers who lose everything after the freak-accident death of their wealthy father. While the pair think they’re next in line to inherit their family business of franchised deli shops, they instead find themselves thrust into an illegal line of work — and onto the FBI’s radar — thanks to their Baba’s secret life of organized crime. It’s a hilarious chain of disastrous events where everything that could possibly go wrong does.

We rarely see South Asian representation when crime and comedy mix, which puts “Deli Boys” in a league of its own. Asif Ali and “Ms. Marvel” actor Saagar Shaikh lead the show as polar opposite siblings Mir — the hardworking aspiring CEO — and Raj — the party boy allergic to the 9-5 life — respectively. The cast also boasts Poorna Jagannathan, best known for playing the defiant Devi’s mom in Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever” (another show that delightfully highlighted South Asian talent). For all the mystery crime lovers out there, the 10-episode series takes plenty of sharp turns, especially in the bloody premiere, and there’s a ton of comedic fodder to appreciate, too.

‘Raising Kanan’ Is Back With More High-Stakes Drama, But To What End?

I’ve been a fan of the “Power” Universe for years now, so whenever one of its shows announces a new season, I’m all ears. I, like many, was sad to say goodbye to “Power Book II: Ghost” after its fourth and final season aired in the fall. However, the long-awaited return of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” which follows the title character’s early days in the drug game, is helping fill the void — somewhat.

Season 4 picks up around the same time the third season concluded, when Kanan (Mekai Curtis) and his queenpin mom, Raq (Patina Miller), killed Ronnie (Grantham Coleman) and Detective Howard (Omar Epps), respectively. It feels like the start of a clean slate for the family, though not for long, since their longtime enemy Unique (Joey Bada$$) — who we now know is alive after his brother Ronnie supposedly killed him last season — is back with a vengeance.

We’ve seen this plot before: Kanan, Raq and Unique all at odds with one another, likely with deadly consequences on the way. Yes, the high-stakes drama was exciting to watch the first time around, but after watching the start of Season 4, I can’t help but wonder in what direction “Raising Kanan” is heading. Viewers have been expecting an eventual run-in with Ghost and Tommy, the core drug lords in the parent series “Power,” who came up under Kanan’s wing. The trio’s potential appearance in “Raising Kanan” seems further and further away as the show progresses — perhaps because Ghost and Tommy’s “Origins” series is still in the works. However, that just makes everything happening in Season 4 thus far feel like a buildup to no particular end. I’ll still be watching, of course, because I can’t resist the lore of the “Power” Universe. However, the series is starting to feel a bit lukewarm.

We Have A Lot Of Thoughts About The ‘Love Is Blind’ Finale

The ‘Paradise’ Finale Solidifies The Political Thriller As One Of The Best Of The Year

Hulu’s “Paradise” has shaped up to be one of the most talked-about political thrillers of the year so far. Much of that has to do with leading man Sterling K. Brown steering a pulsing murder mystery plot amid an equally gripping dystopian storyline. But creator Dan Fogelman — who teamed up with Brown again after they made magic on NBC’s “This Is Us” — and the “Paradise” writing team deserve credit, too, for conjuring up a twisty drama that’s kept eager viewers on the edge of their seats week after week.

“Paradise” begins with Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (Brown) discovering the nation’s president has been murdered in his home, and no one has a single clue who the culprit is. That’s not the only dilemma, though. The loss of the country’s most powerful leader also threatens (what is later revealed to be) the serene underground city over which the president presided after an apocalyptic disaster wiped out the rest of the world — or so many thought. That’s the intrigue of “Paradise.” Every episode peels back a new, unexpected layer that keeps us guessing, all the way down to the finale that finally answers the burning questions that have been brewing all season long — from who killed the president to who’s still living outside of the city’s hidden dome.

As Fogelman promised, the final episode brings closure to the whodunit plot, which I won’t spoil because it’s a way better visual experience than I can sum up in words. In the same chapter, “Paradise” also sets off a new conspiracy as Collins persists in searching for his wife, whom he believed perished in the world-ending catastrophe until new information suggested otherwise. It’ll be interesting to see where the show goes in its already greenlit second season. Will the bunker city residents finally learn the truth about their post-apocalyptic world? Is Collins’ wife truly still alive? I’m sure I speak for every invested viewer when I say we can’t wait to find out.

“Paradise” is streaming on Hulu.

‘Doctor Odyssey’ Is Back — And We Need The Throuple To Continue

“Doctor Odyssey” was one of my surprise favorites among the fall TV lineup in 2024. Thankfully, it’s finally back for the second half of its first season.

Joshua Jackson — yes, Pacey from “Dawson’s Creek” — stars as Dr. Max Bankman who is the on-board doctor on a luxury cruise ship. Avery Morgan (Philippa Soo) and Tristan Silva (Sean Teale) also star as nurses. Earlier in the season, the trio had a super hot threesome — and now Morgan is pregnant by one of them.

On Thursday’s episode, we got a new doctor onboard Dr. Brooke Lane, portrayed by another 2000s heartthrob Adrianne Palicki, who starred as Tyra on “Friday Night Lights.” I’m hoping her character sticks around for a while because it makes for an incredible amount of sexual tension between the medical staff. The episode is Part 1 of the “shark attack” two-parter, and the shark bites have been gnarly. “Doctor Odyssey” has the craziest storylines, so anything could happen this week.

But more than anything, I need the throuple to regroup! ABC, don’t be afraid. Your audiences are clamoring for this storyline to continue. Fans have already given the throuple a nickname: the Ody3. So it’s clear that we’re ready.

But maybe a new throuple should emerge with Palicki, Jackson and Teale’s characters? Give us something!

doctor odyssey is absolutely unhinged television i hope it gets 25 seasons
