is down with thousands of X users unable to send messages. Over 6,000 people reported problems with the website and app on Downdetector as of 9.44am UK time, while more than 17,000 in the US reported issues with the site. At 10.05am, 9,163 reports had been filed in the .
Users have taken to rival social media site Threads to talk about the outage. One person wrote: “Twitter (X) is currently down so we chilling out here.” Another said: “And on the morning of NFL Free Agency… X is down.” A different account wrote: “So X/Twitter is reportedly down for many users (mine included). Either is plotting a purge or karma found the backdoor.” “X (Twitter is down. Congratulations to Threads on millions of new users today,” another person added.

At 10.20am, 10,836 reports were recorded by Downdetector.
Posts about the issues on X were were also seen on Bluesky.
Some users posted on X itself about the outage. One account wrote: “X IS DOWN!! Anyone seeing this post?”
A different person said: “X is down. Posting this on X so people know about X being down.”
Another said: “X just went down for about 20 minutes or so for many users. It seems that the problem may have been resolved.”
