Toilet limescale will vanish if cleaned with 60p drink – no chemicals or scrubbing

It’s one of those slightly grubby household tasks nobody likes doing – scrubbing off the toilet. But there’s a legendary cleaning hack to make your toilet sparkle with absolutely no effort – using a can of Coca Cola.

Gone are the days of scrubbing with a tired loo brush or sloshing copious lashings of bleach and other pungent chemicals down the loo – simply grab a can of your favourite fizzy cola and put your feet up, say experts. That’s because Coke – or Pepsi, or any brand of supermarket roller cola – will banish limescale from your toilet without the need for harsh cleaning chemicals. It doesn’t even need to be full sugar drinks, you can use Diet, Sero, Max or any sugar-free brand you have on hand.

Right now, you can buy a single can of Coca Cola for just 60p in Tesco, perfect for this task.

According to WikiHow: “Coca-Cola isn’t just a sweet, refreshing beverage—its signature fizz and mild acidity make it a powerful, non-toxic toilet cleaner.

“Coke is great for dissolving mineral buildup, like , and rust stains. Its cleaning power comes from the carbonic and phosphoric acid present in Coke’s carbonation”

To clean the bog with coke, simply pour about 230-473ml of cola down the toilet – roughly one can.

Focus on pouring it along the upper rim of the toilet bowl, and then let it sit for at least two hours, or overnight if possible.

Then just flush the next day, et voila, the loo will be magically clean.

If you have tougher stains because you left it too long between cleans, you can still use Coke/Pepsi. Instead, scrub the stains to loosen them, then microwave the coke (not in the can!) for about 30-60 seconds before pouring the hot drink down the toilet.

The only downside is that if you repeat the trick too often, the brown colouring in the fizzy drink can end up staining your porcelain a darker colour over time, so try to use the coke hack as a breather between your usual chemical cleans.
