have been warned that Paris Saint-Germain will score in their clash on Tuesday by the same man the Reds failed to sign in January. Kvicha Kvaratskhelia opted to join the French champions over the runaway leaders in the winter transfer window and caused chaos in the last-16 first leg.

Kvaratskhelia was a key cog in a PSG performance which dominated the chances at the Parc des Princes last week. However, take a 1-0 lead into the second leg thanks to Harvey Elliott’s dramatic late goal and goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s heroics.

PSG will score at Anfield this week despite the French side missing several excellent chances, according to Kvaratskhelia. He hopes to haunt again after turning down a move to Anfield in favour of a £59million switch from Napoli to the French capital.

“We had so many opportunities to score in the first game and were the better team. It was disappointing to lose but we have to prepare ourselves properly for the second game,” the 24-year-old winger said.

“ are a good team and Anfield is a good ground for them. But we can take a lot of confidence from the way we played and if we are the same in the second game then I think we will score the goals we need.”

will need to play much better than they did against Championship-bound Southampton if they are to navigate a tricky second leg against PSG. A half-time rollicking by prompted a second-half turnaround after Southampton led 1-0 at the break.

“It was a very poor performance in the first half,” Slot said. “Maybe if you see the highlights you would feel there were three or four chances, but we were not in the game at all and it didn’t come to a surprise to me that we conceded a goal. Especially if you look at the way we conceded it, it tells you all about our first half.

“We found a way to win the game in the second half. In the media, in my meetings, I made clear to them how difficult of a game this was and that we have to play on different intensity levels than we’ve played against Paris Saint-Germain.

“Maybe also to get used to that level of intensity that we’re going to experience Tuesday again. But in the end I had to make some hard decisions, maybe at half-time, to create a certain anger with the players.”
