will shortly arrive in central London to lead the Royal Family and the nation . The King, alongside Queen Camilla, will join the Prince and , the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester at Westminster Abbey to mark this year’s event, which has the theme of “Together We Thrive”, which celebrates the “enduring spirit of the Commonwealth family”. Last year, both Charles and Princess Kate missed the commemorations after they were diagnosed with cancer.

In this year’s Commonwealth Day message, the King, who is head of the family of 56 nations, will say that restoring the “disrupted harmony of our entire planet” is the most “important” task facing humanity, while he also remembered the “sacrifice and selflessness” of Commonwealth forces who answered the call to fight with Britain and her allies. After the ceremony, the King will launch the inaugural King’s Baton Relay at Buckingham Palace, officially starting the countdown to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Then this evening the King and Queen will attend the annual Commonwealth Day reception.

King Charles vows to restore ‘disrupted harmony’ of planet in Commonwealth Day message

King Charles has hailed the Commonwealth nations for coming together “in the spirit of support and friendship” as he stressed the importance of restoring “the disrupted harmony of our entire planet” in his annual message for the Commonwealth Day’s 76th anniversary.

In his address to the family of nations, the King highlighted the Commonwealth’s ability to “bring people together” and praised the “untold sacrifice and selflessness” of all those lost during World War 2, as this year marks 80 years since it ended.

Charles said in his message: “In these uncertain times, where it is all too easy to believe that our differences are problems instead of a source of strength and an opportunity for learning, the Commonwealth’s remarkable collection of nations and peoples come together in the spirit of support and, crucially, friendship.”
