Rihanna gave birth to her two children in style.
In an Instagram post shared on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day, the “Love on the Brain” singer shared some throwback photos of her holding her sons after they were born.
The first picture featured Rihanna holding RZA against her chest in the hospital bed. Rihanna was fully accessorized for the occasion, wearing several gold necklaces including an intricate amulet and a string of pearls.
The second photo captured the mom-of-two cradling Riot Rose, this time ditching the array of necklaces. Instead, she opted for a pair of thick-rimmed baby pink sunglasses instead a diamond or pearl choker neckless.
“by far the most powerful thing I’ve ever done as a woman,” she wrote in the caption. “my little miracles!”
The singer addressed her fashion choices from the hospital as well, adding, “And yes I gave birth in pearls and sunglasses…don’t ask, a lot was happening.”
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky (born Rakim Mayers) have known each other for over a decade but made their red carpet debut as a couple in 2019. They have two children together: sons RZA, born in 2022, and Riot Rose, born in 2023.
In the months after welcoming Riot, Rihanna spoke to Access Hollywood in December 2023 about her desire to “break generational curses” with her family.
“You just hope, ‘I can have kids one day and I hope I can have them in love, and I hope that I can be a part of a family that breaks generational curses and moves forward and does new things and raises our kids better than we were raised and all the beautiful things,”’ she explained. “And it’s happening, and I can’t believe it.”
During a February 2025 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Rihanna opened up about her sons’ personalities, with the singer describing her older son RZA “an empath.”
“He’s so magical,” she added. “He loves music. He loves melody. He loves books. He loves water. Bath time, swimming, pool, beach, anything.”
As for her younger son, Riot, Rihanna said that “he’s just hilarious.”
“When he wakes up, he starts to squeal, scream,” she explained. “Not in a crying way. He just wants to sing. And I’m like, ‘Okay, here we go!’ He’s my alarm in the morning! He’s not taking no for an answer from anyone. I don’t know where he came from, dude.”
Rihanna also opened up about the transition from being a family of three to a family of four and how having a younger brother has affected RZA.
