The bomb squad was summoned after a man crashed through the barriers of a disused Army barracks and damaged his vehicle with a knife, according to police.

Hampshire Constabulary officers were alerted at 4.30pm on Saturday following reports that a man had attempted to gain entry to the St Omer Barracks in Aldershot.

The individual reportedly drove through the barriers before exiting his car, yelling at the guards, and damaging the exterior of his vehicle with a knife.

Initially, police stated that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team (EOD) was called due to comments made by the man and detonated a car, but Hampshire Constabulary has since clarified that the vehicle was not exploded as the EOD found no explosive threat.
