Netflix is renowned for its original content, with shows like Wednesday, Stranger Things, and Squid Game becoming global phenomena. However, not every series commissioned by the streaming giant hits the mark, with some being axed after just one season.
2024 was no exception, with several shows meeting an untimely end. The most-watched cancelled series of the latter half of the year has now been unveiled.
confirmed that the mythological dark comedy Kaos topped the list, amassing 20.3 million views between July and December 2024.

The show made its debut in August, pulling in a robust 3.4 million views within the first two days and adding another 5.9 million in the initial week of September. Despite this promising start, viewership dwindled over the ensuing weeks, leading to pulling the plug in October.
Kaos offered a contemporary, satirical take on Greek mythology, centring around Zeus (portrayed by Jeff Goldblum) as he endeavoured to thwart a prophecy endangering his rule. Despite spending four weeks in ‘s Top 10 and racking up 20 million views in half a year, the show was ultimately cancelled, much to the disappointment of fans.
News of Kaos being the most-watched cancelled show of 2024 sparked discussions on , where fans shared their reactions. One disappointed viewer said: “It’s crazy that a show of this quality and potential does not get a season two!”
Meanwhile, another added their frustration: “They really dropped the ball with the decision to cancel this show. The way people talked about this show, it had all the makings to be the next big thing. I hope whoever made the decision to cancel has been fired.”
Another fan expressed sheer disbelief: “Absolutely in awe of how this didn’t get a resounding ‘go ahead’ for a season two. It genuinely baffles me. This is just one of those things that no one can make it, make sense.”
