BBC bosses are rumoured to be shaking up the cast of MasterChef three months after Gregg Wallace stepped back from the reality cooking show. Sources claim Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt could be in line to replace the presenter after allegations of sexual harassment surfaced.

His departure followed multiple allegations of inappropriate behaviour, leaving the scrambling to secure a replacement for one of its biggest shows. Banijay UK – the production company behind MasterChef – launched a prove after several women complained the TV judge had either made sexual remarks or harassed them. Now, 51-year-old chef and restauranteur Matt is reportedly in advanced talks with producers about taking over the role.

Not only would he land the coveted presenting role alongside long-standing judge John Torode, he could also present the spin-off series MasterChef: The Professionals. A TV insider revealed that Tebbutt is set to join on the show, replacing food critic and TV personality Grace Dent.

The source told press: “Matt rose to the challenge of coming into Saturday Kitchen after it was previously hosted by another big name in the world of food, James Martin. He managed the feat of making it his own and almost making viewers forget who is predecessor was – now Beeb bosses, and the show producers Banijay, will be hoping he can work the same magic on MasterChef.”

Despite the buzz surrounding Tebbutt’s appointment, noting is finalised just yet. The insider went on: “Nothing is set in stone, of course, and the result of investigations into Gregg’s behaviour have yet to fully conclude. But since MasterChef is such a huge show with a massive following, the Beeb are keen to have everything lines up ready.”

As fans eagerly await the exciting new update surrounding the cast for the show, let’s take a look inside Matt’s life away from the cameras. The broadcaster worked in some of London’s most prestigious restaurants before turning his attention to TV.
