But Amad did not appreciate it in any case. Quoting the clip of Gabriel’s comments, the Ivorian with a GIF of Zirkzee celebrating against United after scoring the winning penalty in their January FA Cup clash. He added the caption: “Ahahah”.

Amad played no part in Sunday’s meeting between the Gunners and United as he is still sidelined with an ankle injury he picked up in February. Manager was initially resigned to losing him for the remainder of the campaign, but he recently acknowledged that there is a chance he could return sooner than expected.

“I think it is just Amad and [Lisandro] Martinez [who will not play againt this season],” he said. “Even Amad, we will see at the end of the last month. He could be… I don’t want to say anything, but I have hopes to have Amad before the end of the season. We will see.”

Prior to his injury, Amad had been one of United’s most reliable performers. He had worked his way up to six goals and six assists in 22 Premier League matches, including the last-minute winner in December’s dramatic win over .
