A man was left seething at his wife after she made a potentially error with his car.

The woman asked whether she could borrow her ‘s car because hers was in the garage, and he agreed, on the condition that she’d fill it up for him while she ran her errands.

She said yes, but then disaster struck when she made a huge error that could’ve potentially set them back over £1,000.

She put Diesel fuel into her husband’s , instead of unleaded. And we all know how that ends.

She tried to start the car, and when it wouldn’t start, she panicked, realising her mistake. As per , she called her husband to share what she’d done, and he stayed calm, saying that he had a friend who would be able to sort it. He got the car towed away.

His pal managed to sort the situation out by pumping the Diesel out of the tank, and replacing it with petrol.

He said: “Now that it’s been running for a while, it’s finally running smoothly again. Now I have to clear the warning codes from the engine, and it’s done,” which seems simple, but it could’ve been a whole lot worse.

He called the owner of the vehicle, the woman’s husband, and said that he’d managed to fix it, and not to worry, because he was only going to charge him a couple of hours of labour.

He was relieved to hear this news, and it certainly got his wife off the hook with him!

But this story will likely have left many people wondering what exactly you are supposed to do if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.

:

says it’s important that you do not start the engine because it’s “crucial to keep the diesel in the tank and not let it into the fuel lines and cause damage”.

Try not to panic, but it’s important to “immediately call a dealership or local repair shop. Arrange for an emergency tow to get your vehicle to the service centre”.

If you had driven with the diesel in the tank, then extra work may need to be done. But if you didn’t, it should be a simple fix like above.

They share that it’s “important to pay attention at the pump,” and if you’re driving a car that you do not normally, ensure you’re aware of what type of fuel it takes before you drive.
