Even when it’s a washout outside, there are still jobs you could be doing in your .
@gardening.with.ish has shared that there are tasks perfect for the wet weather – and your garden will thank you for doing them in the future.
Don’t worry though, he promises that the jobs are “quick” so you don’t have to worry about getting soaked.
He clarified in the caption that the tips “will ensure your have enough drainage, tools stay happy and you’re collecting rainwater”.
Ish said that “first thing’s first” he likes to ensure that all his “potted plants have got adequate drainage”.
…
He said things could become “waterlogged” if the plants are sat on the concrete and it’s raining, so he urged people to “get some pot feet, or some tiny blocks of wood and place them directly underneath”.
As a result, your plants will be able to “drain nicely” and they’ll be “happy”.
He then said the next thing you want to do when its rainy is “keep your tools inside” to prevent them from “going rusty”.
He said you want your tools to work “as best they can,” so as soon as you notice it’s raining, it’s best to “get them inside”.
Finally, if you have a “rain collection system,” Ish urges you to check for any “loose pipes or loose fittings” while it’s raining.
…
This is so that you’re not accidentally wasting any of the water that should be gathering.
He said: “Remember, at the moment, as it’s pouring down, it’s all collecting in here which is valuable water you can use to water the garden.
“So, make sure nothing’s leaking or overflowing.”
Ish noted that the “rain is never fun to work in” so you can do these jobs “fairly quickly” and it “just means everything’s going to be a lot happier in the spring”.
He ended the video by saying: “So, get those tools in, get those plants happy, and get yourself indoors”.
