Adolescence, a gripping series unfolding in real-time through an ambitious one-shot sequence, is now streaming on . The plot revolves around the Miller family whose world is shattered when their son Jamie is accused of murdering a schoolmate.

Actor Stephen Graham, in his debut as a writer, co-penned the series with Jack Thorne and also produced it under his own banner, Matriarch. Speaking about the show, he said: “We could have made a drama about gangs and knife crime, or about a kid whose mother is an alcoholic, or whose father is a violent abuser.

“Instead, we wanted you to look at this family and think, ‘My God. This could be happening to us!’ And what’s happening here is an ordinary family’s worst nightmare.”

The series is helmed by Philip Barantini, who previously collaborated with Stephen on the award-winning short film and TV show, Boiling Point.

The unique continuous filming style – the one shot – was maintained for this series too, requiring the actors to undergo weeks of rehearsals with Philip to ensure flawless performances on the day of shooting.
