Weather maps flash blue as 250-mile wall of snow set to hit England in days

The UK is bracing for another period of wintry weather as a wall of sweeps across the country next week. New maps by WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, have revealed dustings are expected up and down the country on March 12. will be in the Scottish Highlands, where levels could get up to 2.5cm. Elsewhere in Scotland, a small patch of localised snow is due just south of Edinburgh.

In England, from Northumberland in the north to Birmingham in the Midlands. Lower levels are expected than in Scotland, with dustings falling at around the 0.3cm/hr mark. Other parts of the country due to see now next Wednesday are Wiltshire, London, Essex, and West Sussex – all of which will also get around 0.3cm/hr.

in some of the areas that will manage to escape the snow, such as London, Eastbourne, Devon, and North Lincolnshire. Light drizzles of around 0.3 mm/hr are expected.

To compound the snow and rain, the atmospheric temperature is also set to plummet to as low as -5C in some areas, such as Northumberland, Norfolk, and the large majority of Scotland.

Other, more milder areas will be Devon, Cornwall, East Sussex, and the West Midlands.

Separately, the long range forecast for March 11-20 reads: “High pressure will build across the UK from the northwest during the early part of this period.

“This will bring north or northeasterly winds during the middle of next week, with a mixture of sunny spells and some showers. The showers are likely to be most frequent in the north and east, and they will bring some snow to high ground.

“Temperatures are expected to be below normal. Through the end of the week and the following weekend, fine and dry conditions are likely for many areas, although a few showers are likely along coasts.

“Temperatures will likely be below normal. Into the week after, conditions will probably become milder and more changeable with some periods of rain and strong winds.”
