Doja Cat has opened up about her tribute at the after who branded her performance “a mess.” The 29-year-old made a long-awaited comeback to the stage with a rendition of Diamonds Are Forever, originally performed by Shirley Bassey for the 1971 Bond movie.
However, after Lisa sang Live and Let Die and Raye belted Skyfall, Doja’s execution of the hit song fell flat as she was widely criticised for singing off-key. The Say So singer took to to hit back at trolls and explain that nerves got the better of her during the annual ceremony. She admitted that the pressure of performing at such a high-profile event affected her ability to deliver her best performance. In the post, the Grammy-award-winning artist showed off her Oscars look in which she stunned wearing a gold jewel-encrusted dress and an iridescent leopard print dress.

Taking to the caption, she wrote: “Thanks to the Academy Awards and Vanity Fair for having me. I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as f*** for me.
“I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself.”
Doja explained: “The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me and a b**** hit some flats. I can’t wait to do something like that again. What a blessing that was. I feel amazing about the whole thing,” as she ended the statement with a simple “bye.”.
Taking to the comments, she also paid tribute to the other performers and penned: “Also ALL the girls chewed down last night God BLESS them all. Absolutely gorgeous performances from everyone.”

After taking to the stage unimpressed viewers took to social media with complaints as one fumed: “DOJA CAT SOUNDED A F****** MESS! SOMEBODY SHOULD HAVE SNATCHED HER MIC!”
“Doja Cat does not have the vocal range to do that song justice tbh (sic),” another critiqued.
“Weird #JamesBond tribute…Doja Cat…you ain’t Shirley Bassey…where are Adele and Billie Eilish to sing their songs??? This actually awful…” a third wrote.
“Oh Doja…let’s get some singing lessons,” an X user brutally penned.
