‘I’m Kidding!’: Stephen Colbert Burns Trump With A Scathing ‘Bankrupt’ Reminder

Late Show” host Stephen Colbert gave President Donald Trump a not-so-subtle reminder of a chapter from his past.

Specifically, chapter 11.

Trump this week reignited his trade war with Canada, Mexico and China by imposing a new round of tariffs, and all three nations are already retaliating.

Colbert said The New York Times warned that this could be Trump’s “biggest economic gamble.”

“But who better to gamble with our economy than a guy who somehow bankrupted his own casino?” Colbert asked, then added: “I’m kidding, obviously. It was multiple casinos.”

Trump’s Atlantic City casinos went into bankruptcy several times, and were ultimately sold off and/or shut down, as The New York Times detailed in 2016.
