Emmerdale fans are speculating about Gail Loman’s departure from the village after reports surfaced that actress Rachael Gill-Davis has decided to leave the ITV soap.
Having joined in a permanent role two years ago, she first appeared in 2019, as Ryan Stocks’ love interest and co-worker at The Woolpack, which he co-owns with his mother .
Their storyline took a dramatic turn when it was disclosed they had a son, Oscar Grisham, born in 2010 and given up for adoption. In 2023, Oscar’s adoptive mother contacted Gail when he needed a bone marrow transplant due to aplastic anaemia, leading to tensions with Sophie over Oscar’s connection with his biological parents.

After an on-off six-year stint, Rachael is reportedly ready to bid farewell to the show.
A source told : “Rachael has loved her time on the show but it’s time to go. Bosses felt the character wasn’t inspiring much story and so it was all very amicable.
“The door has been left open but it’s a definite goodbye for now. Rachael is looking forward to spreading her wings and showing off her talents on other shows.”
Viewers have already started speculating how Gail will leave the show, while it’s thought the door will be kept open for a return. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “I am gutted but had a feeling as Gail hasn’t done much and it’s a shame. I wonder what type of exit she will have. I would like her to find her son or something like that, or maybe a twist… I hope she gets proper screen time before her exit.”
Meanwhile, a different account put: “Yeah she’s a fun character and nice to see her relaxing with Ryan. I liked her storyline with her son Oscar. I hope she gets another storyline before she leaves, same with Ella. I’m wondering if she breaks up with Ryan and that’s why she leaves…” while another added: “Shame, I wonder if that means Ryan will be leaving too #.”
