When pondering moving homes for something bigger or perhaps smaller, most people opt to stay in the neighbourhood where they’ve put down roots.

“We ended up selling because of our growing family,” Busayong explains. “We realized we want to stay in that community. So we said, ‘let’s take a step back now and come back later.’ That’s where we want to retire even. This is it for us.”
With a total of 334 homes that range from 485 to 1,529 square feet and with a selection of floorplans that encompass studios, one, two and three bedrooms plus some with dens, this is a development that appeals to a range of buyers. Many are already residents of the riverfront community.
“It is a good unit mix. So it is appealing to a lot of first time homebuyers buying in as well as young families,” says Joey Coupland, senior VP of sales for Wesgroup. “A trend that we’ve found over at Harlin, which is great, is a lot of families who currently live in River District, that they’ve been renting for a few years, have now decided to purchase. Or they’re one of the original owners in a Wesgroup home years ago and they’ve decided to upgrade and go into a larger, newer home.”
Harlin is the 14th project for Wesgroup in the River District where they’ve also created much of the infrastructure for retail amenities — like a grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, pet supply store and medical offices — that make the community a self-sufficient hub for residents.
“One of the big drawing points for us was the proximity to the city centre [of the River District] but also to the river,” Busayong says.
The variety of amenities like saunas and hot tubs, sun loungers and a cocktail bar situated on the rooftop deck that showcases spectacular views of the river to the south and mountains to the north, along with a spacious entertainment space, co-workspace, games room, lower level community garden and barbecue area are features that enhanced the appeal for Busayong and her husband. The couple plans to take advantage of most, if not all, of those features.
