Chipotle is adding honey chicken — a ‘fan favorite’ protein — to its menu

Chipotle announced March 6 that it is offering Honey Chicken in restaurants throughout North America and Europe for a limited time.

Calling the offering a “fan favorite” after testing in Nashville and Sacramento, Chipotle promises the item will be a feast for the taste buds.

“Chipotle Honey Chicken is made with fresh chicken hot off the grill, seasoned with savory Mexican spices, in a marinade of seared, smoked chipotle peppers and a touch of pure honey, delivering a new, flavorful bite to any entrée choice,” the company said in a press release.

“Chipotle Honey Chicken was our top performing limited time offer in test markets and we’re excited for guests to taste this bold, new protein with their go-to order,” said Chipotle’s chief brand officer Chris Brandt. “The delicate balance of heat and a touch of sweet pairs perfectly with our real ingredients prepared fresh every day.”

Chipotle Rewards members can get their hands on the item beginning March 6 on the Chipotle app and website, and it will be available to all customers in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. in restaurants and through digital orders beginning March 7. The chicken will be available in France and Germany beginning March 12.

The company did not say when it will stop selling the Honey Chicken.

Chipotle’s announcement comes just days after it said it will maintain prices for consumers as President Trump imposes tariffs on America’s largest trading partners, including 25% from Mexico.

“It is our intent as we sit here today to absorb those costs,” Chipotle CEO Scott Boatwright told “NBC Nightly News“ on March 2, although he warned that prices may fluctuate if rising costs develop into a “significant headwind.”

Boatwright has previously said only about half of Chipotle’s avocados come from Mexico and his comments to “NBC Nightly News” came after Chipotle said in December its prices would jump approximately 2% due to inflation costs.
