Singer Sabrina Carpenter’s risqué performance at the BRIT Awards 2025 has sparked 825 of Ofcom complaints, the watchdog regulator has confirmed.

ITV viewers were left stunned by her provocative dance moves. Opening the annual music award ceremony last Saturday evening, the pop sensation performed a medley of her hits Espresso and Bed Chem.

Donning a red lacy number, she and her dancers ignited the stage with a routine set to the suggestive track. The show aired live on ITV1 and ITVX starting at 8.15pm, notably before the 9pm watershed, which left some viewers disgruntled.

Sabrina concluded her act by kneeling in front of a male dancer who cheekily winked at the camera, prompting immediate reactions across social media.

One viewer commented: “RIP to the 9pm watershed,” while another remarked on the discomfort of watching it with family: “Well this is just an awkward watch sat with the parents.”

Another fan predicted the public’s response: “I love sabrina so much cos I can see the British public reporting this to ofcom immediately,” while one more chimed in: “Bit inappropriate for an awards show….”

Amid conjecture about a wave of complaints to Ofcom, it has now been confirmed that the ceremony garnered 825 complaints, with most of them concerning Sabrina Carpenter’s initial dance number and Charlie XCX’s attire, reports .

Amid the backlash, Sabrina took to to share her take on whether her performance was suitable for family viewing. She uploaded a collection of images from the event, featuring behind-the-scenes shots and her appearance on the BRITs red carpet.

Accompanying her post, Sabrina cheekily penned: “I now know what watershed is!!!!”

Admirers lauded the star, with one fan exclaiming: “They can never make me hate you sweety.”

Another chimed in: “sabrina carpenter the pop princess that you are.”

Yet another admirer commented: “she leaves quite an impression!”

While at the BRITs, Sabrina was honoured with the Global Success Award, marking her as the first international artist to receive the accolade, joining past recipients such as Adele and Ed Sheeran.

Other startling incidents at the awards, held at London’s O2 Arena, included Danny Dyer’s expletive-laden tirade, which ITV chose to silence.

The former actor didn’t hold back his candid views on prime minister Sir . Chatting with host Jack Whitehall at his table during the BRITs, Danny likened his new film Marching Powder to Bridget Jones, then uttered the word “c***”.

When Jack probed him about the “C*** of the year” Danny responded: “Probably Sir !” before describing the state of global leadership with a string of bleeped-out expletives.

Later in the evening, Danny introduced a video message from singer Chappell Roan, remarking that she “couldn’t be f***”d to be here”.

BRITs viewers were also taken aback by host Jack Whitehall’s quip regarding P Diddy following JADE’s performance of Angel Of My Dreams, dressed entirely in white. Jack referenced Diddy’s infamous “white parties”, which did not sit well with the audience.

One viewer expressed their dismay on social media: “Jack Whitehall making a Diddy joke was so tasteless and tone deaf. #BRITs2025.”

Another commented: “Mentioning Diddy after the whole, very blatant, message of JADEs performance??? Get this man off my screen #brits2025.”
