Bryson DeChambeau breaks silence on LIV golf contract collapse when put on spot

has broken his silence on speculation he is set to quit and rejoin the . The 31-year-old switched to the Saudi-based circuit in 2022, having been handed a lucrative £94 million deal.

He’s since won twice on the rebl tour, both last year in Las Vegas and Chicago. He also captained the Crushers GC team that won the LIV Team Championship in 2023 alongside teammates Paul Casey, Anirban Lahiri and Charles Howell III. However, his future has recently appeared in doubt amid reports that , with his current deal due to expire in 2025.

DeChambeau is currently out in Hong Kong for the latest LIV series event in Fanling. And in his pre-tournament press conference, he was asked if he was aware that he had been subjected to tabloid rumours. “Like what?” he replied, smiling.

After being pressed on a potential LIV departure, he said: “I’m very excited about the future of LIV golf. I’m very excited to be the captain of the Crushers and continue the legacy that we’re starting to create.

“That is my goal: to create this lasting legacy where we impact millions and millions of golfers’ lives from around the world. So that should tell you everything you should know.”

DeChambeau is considered one of the most high-profile stars on the LIV circuit. He and Brooks Koepka remain the only players to have won major titles since under the ‘rebel’ banner, with the Texas native 11th in the world rankings despite LIV events still not being recognised by the OGWR.

That could soon change as talks over a historic merger between the warring factions continue. DeChambeau himself was part of a significant event in terms of mending relations in December when he and Koepka teamed up to face and in a special ‘Showdown’ challenge match in Las Vegas.

, but the atmosphere between the four stars was notably amicable. As well as his LIV commitments, DeChambeau is also building towards the next month as he bids for his first green jacket.

After two 2025 events, the player once dubbed ‘The Mad Scientist’ for his obsession with distance data lies 14th in the individual LIV standings. He finished tied-sixth in the season opener in Riyadh, before he ended tied for 18th in the next tournament in Adelaide.
