Antiques Road Trip viewers all had the same thoughts on the show’s newest expert Tahmina Ghaffar after she made debut on the hit programme.

Tahmina, an expert in Islamic and Indian art, teamed up with David Harper for a road trip, with the pair beginning their journey in the Lancashire countryside and ending on the Pembrokeshire coast in Monday’s (3 March) instalment of Antiques Road Trip.

During their trip, David picked up some shot glasses and a large pot, while Tahmina found fencing gear and a crocodile nutcracker. The pair had plenty of fun along the way, including stopping for lunch at a local eatery.

Antiques Road Trip viewers were impressed with Tahmina’s show debut and many took to social media to compliment her knowledge.

“New girl knows her stuff, very good so far but the auction is the litmus test,” one fan said, while another added: “Tahmina is a very cool addition to the lineup of experts – I think her purchases today would have done better in an auction further south – some great buys all round though.”

A third viewer penned: “We are watching Antiques Road Trip on catch up. I do like Tahmina Ghaffar, although nobody could replace @IritaMarriott as my favourite.”

Somebody else said: “Been watching your Antiques Road Trip on @ 1 at 4.30pm this week with Tahmina Ghaffar. Thoroughly entertaining, educational and enjoyable.”

Tahmina hails from London and is currently head of the Islamic and Indian art department at Chiswick Auctions. She revealed she previously used to work in finance before pursuing a career in antiques.

Tahmina graduated from The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London and went on to work at the auction house Sotheby’s in the Islamic and Indian and the South Asian departments.

She then joined Bonhams, running the South Asian auctions there.

Tahmina achieved world record results for Sri Lankan, Pakistani and Indian artists during her time at Bonhams.

Antiques Road Trip airs on weekdays at 4.30pm on One and iPlayer.
