After the work had been completed, the two presenters took the model on the Willow Springs Raceway circuit, with Edd the first to take the machine for a spin.
Mike said: “Anytime on the road within Edd and I’ll try to be the one behind the wheel.
“It’s not that I don’t trust him, it’s just that I feel he becomes a different person once he’s in the driving seat.
“The 912 was great fun but I was only comfortable doing one loop with him, that was it.”

Mike looked visibly stunned at Edd’s car control as he held onto the inside door handle for support.
Mike laughed: “You’ve got that steering wheel to hold onto. I’ve got a door handle and nothing else.”
Edd added: “The grip is amazing. If you think we’ve lowered this from American spec to down to European spec and really it just helps the handling, it stops it rolling around.
“I’m getting a lot of confidence from this. A little tiny bit of oversteer there at the end. But that’s the lovely thing, it’s actually really really balanced. The steering is very responsive.”
Mike and Edd spent £20,000 on the car and turned a £2,500 profit for £25,500.
Getting out of the car after the hot lap, Mike joked: “What a great car, what a great track and what great driving. I’ll tell you what, you know how to handle this car.”
