Khalid Abdalla, the actor acclaimed for his portrayal of Dodi Fayed in the series The Crown has made headlines after the Metropolitan Police have summoned him for a police interview. This summons is linked to alleged breaches of the Public Order Act that may have occurred during a pro-Palestine demonstration. Abdalla is expected to participate in a formal interview concerning the Palestine Solidarity Campaign protest on January 18.
The protest was over Palestinian rights and raising awareness about the ongoing situation in the region. The investigation will focus on whether any actions during the event fell outside the parameters established by the Public Order Act, which governs the conduct of public assemblies and protests. The 44-year-old said it “remains to be seen” if this will result in any charges.

In his statement, Abdalla said: “The right to protest is under attack in this country and it requires us all to defend it.” He revealed he had been summoned alongside Stephen Kapos, an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor.
Abdalla wrote: “While there is an alarming rise in attempts to censor voices that stand up for Palestine, even as it faces open calls for ethnic cleansing, it will not work,”
He added: “The days of silence and intimidation are gone.”

The specifics regarding the actor’s questioning remain uncertain. However, the Metropolitan Police have indicated that the conditions set for the protest were violated.
Reports suggest that many people marched to Trafalgar Square despite the protest’s intention to stay within Whitehall.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated: “As part of our ongoing investigation into alleged breaches of the Public Order Act conditions on Saturday, 18 January, we have invited an additional eight individuals to be interviewed under caution at a police station.”
As of now, 21 individuals have been charged in connection with events that took place on January 18. Among them is Abdalla, a well-known actor, who has been a prominent voice regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza. He has actively participated in various pro-Palestine demonstrations in London and has been an advocate for a lasting ceasefire.
At the premiere of “The Crown” in December 2023, Abdalla drew attention by displaying slogans related to the -Hamas conflict written on his hands.
Born in the UK to Egyptian parents, he has also made public statements urging Western nations to “stop arming .” The Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, which organized a recent protest, has strongly contested the police’s account of the events.
