’s Hollywood friend appeared to make a veiled swipe at the Duchess in her new show as she finally addressed the mystery behind the numbered strawberry jam jars sent to 50 of her closest friends and influencers. Actress was one of the 50 lucky recipients of Meghan’s homemade strawberry jam the Duchess sent out as part of the soft-launch of her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard – that has since been renamed As Ever – in April last year.
In an episode of Meghan’s new series, ‘With Love, Meghan’, the Duchess of Sussex invited the Office star to the rented £5 million mansion where the show was filmed. Discussing the jam jars on the show, Mindy said: “When I received that in the mail, a box of your preserves, it was probably one of the most glamorous moments of my life.” But the actress said she was alarmed by the labelling on it that said “50” because “I’m a very hierarchical person”.
“Does having a lower number make me more special?” But Meghan insisted: “I did not think about it. It was not a ranking. It was just let me share them and then, people started to take it very personally,” she added. “People like me,” Mindy hit back.

“I straight up went on and went to look at who the other people are and what numbers they have,” she added.
Meghan later revealed that her mum, Doria Ragland, received jar number one. “I did save one of 50 for my mom…. felt like the right thing to do,” she said. Viewers have speculated that Mindy was taking a subtle swipe at Meghan by speculating about the “ranking”.
One fan wrote on X: “Is Mindy Kaling having a dig at the Royal Family with the ‘ranked’ comment? This episode seems really b****y like a pair of mean girls.”
Another wrote: “Mindy Kaling is hilarious talking about the ranking of the jars. She said she ran to socials to see the numbers others had and people asked to try it. Meanwhile, Meghan said she didn’t really take the numbers seriously, so number 1 or number 50 – no big deal.”
