star Rachael Gill-Davis has been axed from the soap after six years.

The actress made her first appearance as Gail Loman in 2019, introduced as a childhood friend of Ryan Stocks (James Moore). After her brief initial appearance, Gail returned to the village permanently in May 2023 when she was hired as kitchen assistant at The Woolpack.

However, the barmaid is set to leave in the coming months after bosses decided there was nothing left to do with the character. Rachael’s final scenes will reportedly air within the next few months.

“Rachael has loved her time on the show but it’s time to go,” a source told The Sun. “Bosses felt the character wasn’t inspiring much story and so it was all very amicable.”

The insider said the door has been left open for Gail to return one day but confirmed it’s a “definite goodbye” for now. They added: “Rachael is looking forward to spreading her wings and showing off her talents on other shows.”

Last year, the soap star expressed her disappointment after discovering she had been cut from a production. Rachael was due to appear in the Greek mythology series KAOS, starring actor Jeff Goldblum.

After filming scenes for the series, Rachael was devastated to find out that she had been axed just days before it was released on the streaming service.

“Hi guys, so I’ve got a bit of bad news unfortunately,” she began in a video posted on her Stories. “Er, last week I found out I’ve been cut from KAOS, that’s coming out today.”

Don’t miss…

Rachael continued: “She didn’t make it to the edit so for everybody that has been waiting for me to deliver you know those two lines that I had…in a short skirt….it’s unfortunately not gonna happen.”

She added: “I think what I’m asking is, I don’t want you to boycott the show. It comes out today, I got to read all eight scripts, I got to try on ‘ shoe from Ab Fab…so all is not lost.”

Despite her disappointment, she concluded: “It’s going to be mega, it’s insane.” KAOS was released in August 2024 but was cancelled just a few months later after one series.

Rachael’s upcoming departure follows a number of other exits after a number of characters were cut. Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough), Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) and Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) all died as a result of the tragic limo crash.
