Carlos Alcaraz has opened up about his difficulty finding love as a leading tennis star. The 21-year-old already has four major wins to his name, including back-to-back titles. Having made an incredible start to his professional career, the Spaniard could be the one to chase down record of 24 Grand Slam men’s singles titles, but has found his love life a little more complicated than his success on the court.
He was previously romantically linked with sports marketing and law graduate Maria Gonzalez Gimenez. Hailing from his hometown of Murcia and a fellow tennis enthusiast, Alcaraz never confirmed their relationship but did allude to a break-up when admitting he had been single for about 18 months in early 2023. Since then, there have been rumours surrounding Alcaraz potentially seeing and Spanish singer Ana Mena. While he has remained tight-lipped about possible partners, Alcaraz has admitted that the jet-setting lifestyle that comes with the sport makes it difficult to find a long-term relationship.
“I’m single, but I’m looking for someone,” Alcaraz confirmed on the Molusco TV podcast. “It can be difficult for a tennis player to meet the right person, because they are always on the move. Who knows what will happen this year.” When asked if he was seeing someone, Alcaraz added: “No, no, no commitments for now, I’m single.”
Other tennis stars took the off-season break to take the next step in their own relationships this winter, including British No.1 and Australian world No.9 Alex de Minaur who announced their engagement just before Christmas. And reacting to some of his on-court rivals’ positive news over recent months, he revealed: “I’ve laughed several times with people close to me, when I discovered that three or four players got engaged during the winter break. I thought it would be my turn, but not yet.”
Alcaraz also admitted: “It’s complicated to never stay in the same place, it’s difficult to find the person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world.”

It is perhaps why there are several high-profile couples within tennis, as having similar schedules makes it easier to form lasting connections. However, Alcaraz quashed suggestions that he was seeing Raducanu last year after the former US Open winner attended his second triumph.
“She is from here, so I imagine that she wanted to come and see it,” . “If there was a Grand Slam in Murcia I would watch the finals 100 per cent. I don’t know if she came to the finals or if she came to see me. Who knows? You have to question her, but I hope she enjoyed the final.”
Alcaraz is preparing to defend his Indian Wells title in California this week. He could become only the third man, behind and Djokovic, to win the tournament for three consecutive years.
