One person is dead after a shooting near the intersection of Scott Road and 80th Avenue in Surrey on Monday afternoon.
According to Surrey Police Service spokesperson Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, emergency services received several calls from the “very busy” location at around 5:30 p.m.
Houghton said that one person was shot while sitting inside their vehicle in an outdoor parking lot.
There is no threat to the public and the intersection remains open, he said. No arrests have been made.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case.
Images shared on X show the victim was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot outside Best Buy on the southeast corner of the intersection. The vehicle appears to have struck a small tree.
RedFM reports that two attackers fired approximately 20 rounds before fleeing in a red Challenger.
