Andy Roddick’s split from Mandy Moore left the actress and singer heartbroken – but time has healed those wounds. Roddick dated Moore at the height of his career between 2003 and 2004.
He reached world No. 1 status after his triumph and made the final of , losing to . He would never be ’ top dog again – and soon after, his relationship with Moore deteriorated too.
The pair had been largely inseparable after meeting on the set of rom-com How to Deal, with Moore a regular in the stands to cheer on her boyfriend when they weren’t walking red carpets together. It brought them under an intense spotlight, one which ultimately proved too strong.

They went their separate ways, which hit Moore hard. “He broke my heart … [That heartbreak] got poured into everything,” she said in 2018, claiming it wasn’t unusual for men to get “a wandering eye” in relationships and adding: “It’s human nature, part of the human condition. You’re on to the next! It’s OK, wasn’t meant to be.”
Her emotions were impacted for many years thereafter, but she’s since come to peace with how their relationship ended. Moore continued: “He’s like married with kids and he seems super happy, and I’m happy for him. We were kids. I don’t care. Ten years ago, I would have had an axe to grind, but now I’m like, ‘Whatever’.”

Roddick, who’s now approaching 16 years of marriage with model and actress Brooklyn Decker, also only has good things to say about his ex. “I couldn’t have more respect for her,” he told PEOPLE last year.
“We were certainly young, with our whole lives ahead of us, but she’s someone who I am thankful for. I think she’s a 10-out-of-10 human.”
Roddick admitted his wife speaks to Moore more often than he does, including when Decker enlisted her help for ‘No Love: The Roast of Andy Roddick’ in 2020. She’s now happily married to musician Taylor Goldsmith.

She also sent a heartwarming message in 2023 on the anniversary of his US Open triumph. “Andy was a really formative part of my young adult life and although we’re not in touch, I was really moved by this article reflecting on the 20th anniversary of his US Open win and the kind of life he’s lead since,” Moore wrote. “I’m so happy for him and his family. Congrats on this milestone, Andy!”
Roddick has two children with Decker – their nine-year-old son Hank and seven-year-old daughter Stevie. Moore, meanwhile, has sons August and Oscar, aged four and two, and five-month old daughter Louise with Goldsmith.
