star Sara Damergi has confessed a development she is working on in has proved “stressful” due to the war as she attempts to finish two blocks of flats. Speaking exclusively to the property developer and presenter revaled she had been in talks about doing a renovation show with a property in Beruit.
The idea would be similar to that which her A Place In The Sun colleague in However Sara revealed it has been a struggle to finsh the property she already has in Lebanon.
“There was talk with someone about Beirut, but I’m not sure I’ll be buying in Beirut quite yet. A new property,” the half Lebanese star said. “We’ve got to finish the properties (we laready have) there first, and it’s been very up and down. I have had a dream of having a holiday home in Batroun, which is on the seaside in Lebanon. So one day, maybe. Then maybe we could have an insight into the Lebanese culture, which would be very different to a renovation show in Spain, I guess.

“But it depends what stage of life you’re in as well. I think with two young kids running around, the idea of renovating from the bottom up is not my cup of tea.
“I know some people don’t mind (and) maybe in five years or so, I’d be up for a total renovation. But bear in mind, we’re just building a block of flats in Lebanon, two blocks of flats (at the moment), so we’re kind of knee deep in property anyway at the minute.
“And that’s been very stressful with the war and everything going on. So I’m taking a breather from renovation for this year, at least,” she said.
Alongside her brothers Aboudi and Malek, Sara is completing a project initiated by her Lebanese-born father, Issam, who reclaimed ancestral land for the development of 55 flats and 14 shops in the conflict-ridden country. Issam sadly passed away from cancer in May 2022 at the age of 67 before seeing it finished.

While Sara might be taking a break from renovations she has no such plan for her presenting career. Alongside hosting regular episodes of the popular property show she is also revisiting some of the programme’s previous guest for A Place In The Sun: What Happened Next?
“It’s been brilliant,” she said. “I’ve been doing the main shows and the reunion shows this year and I’ve absolutely loved it.
“You never really know what to expect when you’re going back to visit people, because life changes and people have redone properties.
“It’s been really nice, really nice to see all the changes that people have made, and just living the dream. You don’t (usually) get to see that part. And I don’t think it get old to go back and see people so happy and just was enjoying their life,” she said.
A Place In The Sun: What Happened Next? returns to Channel 4 at 6pm on March 17.
