The World Open snooker final takes place this weekend. There will be a new name on the trophy with some big names dumped out of the tournament in the earlier rounds.
Defending champion was stunned by Joe O’Connor in the last-32. A 5-2 loss meant Trump was beaten in the World Open for the first time in seven years.
, , Gary Wilson Luca Brecel, Robert Milkins and Jak Jones were all gone in the first round. World champion Kyren Wilson, Elliot Slessor Jack Lisowski, Wu Yize and Hossein Vafaei are all seeded stars who were knocked out alongside Trump in the second round.
The winner will bank a large sum of money if they succeed in Saturday’s final.
World Open final prize money
Players are competing for a share of £825,000 in Yushan. The fund will be split between the 64 players based on how they perform.
Saturday’s champion will earn £175k, a £5k increase on Trump’s pay cheque from last year. The runner-up will earn £75k. There is an additional prize of £5k for the highest break during the tournament.
Semi-finalists earn £33k, quarter-finalists are awarded £22k, while last-16 losers bank £14k. Trump and his other last-32 losers earned only £9k and those beaten in the first round took home £5k.
The total prize fund is an increase of £10k from last year.

Final format
All matches up to and including the quarter-finals were played on a best-of-nine-frames basis. That was increased to best-of-11 for yesterday’s semi-finals. Today’s final will be a best-of-19-frames encounter played over two sessions.
How to watch the World Open
The World Open final takes place today, Saturday, March 1. The tournament started on on Monday, February 23 and has seen some epic action so far. Fans will be excited to see how the final unfolds over the coming hours.
Eurosport 1 and TNT Sports 3 broadcast the World Open for most of the tournament. However, Eurosport have now shut down all their channels.
