They are a perennial favourite of Italians seeking a relaxed break but relatively undiscovered by foreign tourists, and offer an affordable escape that can easily cost less than a weekend in London.

The Aegadians, translated as the islands of goats, have a resident population of around 5,000 spread across the larger islands of Favignana, Levanzo, and MarettimoWith dramatic and awe-inspiring landscapes, they provide an intoxicating combination of natural beauty, perfect seas and the chance to immerse yourself in traditional culture.

Flights to Sicily are often found for as little as £40-£60, and a short ferry ride will get you to the islands for around €10 to €20.

Accommodation on the Aegadian Islands is also significantly cheaper.

While London’s hotel prices can reach £150 or more per night, you can find cosy guesthouses and hotels on Favignana and Levanzo for as little as €30 to €50 per night.

Even during peak seasons, the cost of staying on these islands is a fraction of what you’d pay for a weekend in London.

Dining out in London can add up quickly, with a casual meal often costing £20-£30 or more per person.

On the Aegadian Islands, however, you can enjoy fresh seafood and traditional Italian dishes in local trattorias for just €10-€15.

So, if you’re looking for an affordable yet unforgettable Italian escape, the Aegadian Islands are the perfect choice.
