Piers Morgan slams ‘absurd question’ that started Trump Zelensky row – ‘Elon Musk doesn’t’

has raged at an “absurd question” between US President and Ukrainian leader at the White House on Friday.

Before the conference got heated, a conservative commentator asked Mr Zelensky: “Why don’t you wear a suit? Do you own a suit? A lot of Americans have a problem with you not respecting the dignity of the office.”

Mr Zelensky replied: “I will wear a costume after this war will finish. Maybe something like yours, maybe something better, I don’t know. We will see. Maybe something cheaper.”

This came after the moment he arrived at the White House.

As the two leaders shook hands, Mr Trump said Mr Zelensky was “all dressed up today.”

The Ukrainian President has opted for a dressed-down appearance for every public event since his country was invaded by the Russians in February 2022.

hit out at the criticism surrounding Mr Zelensky’s lack of suit, highlighting that tech-billionaire has also been seen at the White House in casual attire.

He posted on X: “Absurd question. doesn’t wear a suit in the Oval Office.”

The post has garnered a huge 144,000 likes at the time of writing.

Mr Zelensky travelled to Washington to sign a deal with the US, handing over control of £400 billion worth of natural resources as repayment for military aid.

But the meeting quickly turned into a shouting match as Mr Trump branded Mr Zelensky “disrespectful” and accused him of “gambling with World War 3.”

Vice-President JD Vance also accused the Ukrainian leader of showing a lack of gratitude, questioning whether he’d ever thanked the US for its support.

A press conference was scheduled to take place afterwards, but this was cancelled. According to reports, Mr Zelensky and his team from were instructed to leave the White House.
