Olly Murs admits Brit Awards is something he feels ‘sour’ about for one reason

Olly Murs, the 40 year old singer who shot to fame after his stint on The X-Factor in 2009, made a candid admission while co-hosting Heart Radio with Mark Wright – saying he felt “sour” about never having won a Brit Award.

The conversation came up as they discussed the annual music ceremony which is set to return tonight. After playing a Rudimental song, Mark cheekily asked Olly: “Rudimental have won a Brit, have you won a Brit?” Olly responded: “Ooh, you know I haven’t won a Brit.”

When asked if he liked the Brit Awards, despite attending numerous times, Olly confessed: “Do you know what, I do and I don’t, because I never won a Brit which kind of is a little bit sour for me…” However, he did acknowledge the positive side, saying: “But four nominations, I performed at it, and we actually met at the Brits, do you remember that?”

Mark confirmed, adding: “We did meet at the Brits, so actually, we should love the Brits, because we wouldn’t be sat on these chairs right now travelling to Vegas, LA, Abu Dhabi, wherever else we’ve been and all the memories we made if it weren’t for the Brits.”

The Dance With Me singer then cast the Brit Awards in a more favourable light, sharing his enjoyable experience: “We had a really good night together actually. We went for a few drinks afterwards and do you know what they are good nights. I think sometimes on TV it gets a little bit lost but it is a really fun night and it is good to see other artists and mingle and get to see all the gossip and see what’s going on.”

Despite reports by in 2017 that Olly snubbed the Brit Awards due to being “upset” over not receiving a nomination, he seems to hold the event, first held in 1977, in high regard. Reflecting on what it would mean to win one, Olly previously stated: “It would just be great to win a Brit because I feel like I put my heart and soul into it.”
