Dachshund
Nevertheless, she highlights that there are 10 breeds that shine above others as exemplary pets. Famed as the sausage dog, the Dachshund may be just the ticket for anyone seeking a small-sized pet.
Renowned for their intelligence, loyalty, and playful nature, the ex-kennel operator characterised the breed as “so wiggly, so silly, cutest puppies, relatively quiet for a small breed, very sweet and loyal”.
Vizsla
The vizsla, a versatile red-coated hunting dog, can make a good family pet, but they are typically better suited to families with older children due to their high energy levels. These dogs have excellent stamina and are fantastic athletes, making them ideal for an active household.

She admits they “make me laugh” and “love hugs”. Their patience and protective nature have earned them a reputation as being great with children and effective guard dogs.

Wheaten terriers
Wheaten terriers, according to @junk_mom, have puppy eyes, are great with kids, and are a perfect size.
They are known for being fantastic family dogs and a great breed to have around children. They are gentle and love being around other dogs.
Rottweiler
With proper training and socialisation, Rottweiler dogs can be a good family dog. They are generally considered better for older children to their larger size and protective nature.

Cocker spaniel
She added that cocker spaniel’s are suitable for someone looking for a low maintenance dog who loves spending their time cuddling and napping. “Beautiful when groomed right, usually live long lives,” she added.
Mastiff
This huge lap dog is “fiercely loyal to owners” said the former kennel worker. “I love playing with a squishy face,” she added. These dogs are known for being loyal, protective and gentle. They are great family companions and guard dogs.
Basset hound
The content creator describes these dogs as “couch potatoes” and “great singers”. She also said they are silly and hilarious. The dog with long ears typically survive between 10 and 12 years and is a great companion due to its gentle and laid-back nature.
Lhasa Apso
“Looks like old men, act like old men, fun to carry around like a baby,” @junk_mom. These dogs are extremely loyal, playful and fun-loving. They are also great watchdogs, and are low maintenance.
