In the UK, eggs aren’t actually stored in the fridge in supermarkets, yet we always put them straight in the fridge when we get back home.
While making a Victoria Sponge cake on This Morning, James Martin said: “All eggs are porous.

“They absorb all the flavours in the fridge.”
Martin claims eggs should be kept out of the fridge because their porous shells tend to soak up unwanted smells.
However, be sure to store them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, as they need to stay below 20°C to stay fresh and safe to consume.
Refrigerating eggs can help them last longer and the British egg safety authority advises keeping them in the fridge.
Once eggs are purchased and taken home, they may have been exposed to fluctuating temperatures, which is why refrigerating them can help maintain freshness and safety.
