Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has thanked a number of European leaders for their vocal support following a heated row with and his acrimonious departure from the White House. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Zelensky retweeted messages from key European figures, expressing his appreciation for their solidarity. The move will serve as a remind to Mr Trump that many in Europe are still backing .
Donald Tusk, former President of the European Council, was the first to be thanked by the Ukrainian President: “Dear @ZelenskyyUa, dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone.” French President Emmanuel Macron, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, Friedrich Merz, the Leader of the Christian Democratic Union, Germany, have been retweeted by the Ukranian President with the repeated “Thank you for your support”.

Earlier this evening, Ukrainian President was involved in a tense exchange with President and Vice President JD Vance in front of the world’s eyes at the White House. During the meeting, Trump warned he might pull U.S. funding for ’s war efforts.
As a result, a planned press conference, which was set to follow the signing of a landmark deal granting U.S. access to Ukrainian minerals, was called off.
Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament said: “Your dignity honours the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President.”Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro said:” can always count on Portugal.”
Gitanas Nausėda, the President of Lithuania, expressed solidarity by declaring: “, you’ll never walk alone.”
Zelensky has retweeted the posts and “thanked them for their support”.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland, Simon Harris, wrote: ” is not to blame for this war brought about by ’s illegal invasion. We stand with .”
Prime Minister has not yet posted anything on X.

Emmanuel Macron said in his Tweet: “There is one aggressor: . There is a people under attack: . We were right to help and sanction three years ago, and we continue to do so. Together with the Americans, Europeans, Canadians, Japanese, and many others.”
António Costa, President of the European Council and Ursula von der Leyen both tweeted: “Your dignity honours the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You will never be alone, dear President @ZelenskyyUa. We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace.”
Trump said that Zelensky is “not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations”, that he “disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office”
He added: “He can come back when he is ready for peace.”
