UK households given last chance to get £225 supermarket vouchers

The deadline for claiming supermarket vouchers and cost of living payments worth up to £225 will expire today.

The , is a pot of cash allocated to councils in England which then distribute it according to local authorities.

In October last year, the government extended the fund, releasing £421 million to be distributed among councils before March 31. Councils run their schemes separately and there may be differences in eligibility criteria, if or how you need to apply and who money is given to.

For example, some councils share out money through local charities and community groups, and some limit household applications to one per year. The support includes vouchers for Tesco, Sainsbury’s, B&M and Aldi among others.

Bedford Council

Bedford Council, is offering direct bank payments of £150 to anyone on council tax support and the deadline to apply is February 28.

Cambridgeshire County Council

Cambrideshire County Council offers vouchers totalling £110 per household and the award can be paid in one lump sum or, split into your choice of different vouchers.

It can include as Paypoint Cashout voucher – a code sent to your mobile number and redeemable at any PayPoint site.

Or a supermarket voucher – sent by email to be redeemed at any of the following supermarkets: Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco.

The deadline to apply is March 31.

City of Doncaster Council

City of Doncaster Council is offering help to households where at least one person is aged between 16 and 64 – also known as a working-age adult.

Households without children are being issued £75 payments and those with one or two dependent children £150.

Residents living in homes with three or more dependent children qualify for £225 payments. The deadline is March 31.

Kent County Coucil

Offers the same scheme with around with vouchers to the value of £100 which can be redeemed towards food, energy or both, the deadline is the end of March.

Nottinghamshire County Council

Support payments, worth around £110 per household are paid to households in receipt of Pension Credits and households with children entitled to free school meals as well as other households and individuals struggling with rising costs. The deadline to apply is Friday, February 28.

Portsmouth Council

The council is helping people with children age 0-19 as well as women who are 20 weeks pregnant or anytone with a low income, you may be eligible to apply for Portsmouth Council’s Family Voucher Scheme.

Households must submit their applications online by 12pm on February 28, by visiting portsmouth.gov.uk.
