has shared details from his crunch talks with after the winger’s early Ipswich Town substitution. Garnacho raised eyebrows by walking straight down the tunnel after being sacrificed in the first half of Wednesday’s 3-2 victory.

Patrick Dorgu saw red for a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson, sparking Amorim’s decision to introduce Noussair Mazraoui on the brink of half-time. Garnacho cut a disappointed figure as the No. 17 glared in red on the fourth official’s board before trudging down the touchline towards the tunnel. The 20-year-old appeared to indicate to the bench that he had to change his clothes on a soaking wet night at Old Trafford, but that didn’t simmer supporters’ confusion.

Garnacho welcomed further uncertainty with his social media activity after the hard-fought win, posting a captionless image of himself standing in the relentless rain.

Following a barrage of online criticism, he returned on Thursday morning to post a second image of United’s players celebrating, writing: “Important three points! Team.”

Amorim calmed the situation ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Fulham, revealing that Garnacho instigated talks the next day.

“He came to me. It was funny because he came to my office. I did an investigation. He went to the dressing room to change his clothes because they were wet,” the United boss explained.

“He is a young kid that will learn. The important thing is that in the next morning, he was speaking with me.

“Zirkzee did the same thing [walking down the tunnel], but the context was different. We can deal with that, so let’s just move on.”

Garnacho could miss Fulham’s visit to Old Trafford this weekend due to an injury after picking up a knock before his withdrawal against Ipswich.

Amorim said: “When he went to shoot, when it was blocked almost inside the box [against Ipswich]… He has a knock. I expect him to be ready, but we will see. I have to wait until tomorrow.”

Garnacho’s absence would leave and Joshua Zirkzee as United’s only senior forwards.

Chido Obi will also be an option after he didn’t travel to with the Under-18s for Friday’s FA Youth Cup quarter-final.
